OPC 53 gains strength fast and suits RCC members where you need to strike formwork quickly. PPC gains strength more slowly but produces less heat, resists sulphate and chloride attack better, and gives a denser finish — a good fit for plaster, brickwork and the damp conditions common across North Bengal. Many sites use OPC for structural pours and PPC for masonry and plaster.
Cement loses strength as it sits. Use bags within about three months of manufacture, and check the packing date printed on the bag when the load arrives. We rotate our own stock so what leaves the yard is fresh.
